A POLICE officer and martial arts expert is hosting a free self-defence class for women in Darlington.
The event will take place at the Dolphin Centre on Saturday, May 19 from 1.30pm and is open to all women over the age of 18.
The class will be led by PC Neil Walton and will equip women with basic self-defence techniques, avoidance, awareness and breakaway techniques, and knowledge of danger and warning signs.
Inspector Chris Knox, from Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “This is an excellent initiative to offer advice to members of the public and give them the necessary skills to defend themselves should they find themselves in a difficult situation.”
The event will last for around an hour and a half. Participants should wear comfortable training attire as the session will include physical activity.
