Northern Heartlands Great Place Scheme
Be a part of new and independent team, working in the beautiful landscapes of Teesdale and Weardale, County Durham. You will be engaging with diverse communities to debate and enhance the role of heritage, culture, landscape and art in place-making. As a team, you will be channelling the learning from these activities and debates into local policy-making, from Public Health and wellbeing strategies to environmental policy and Neighbourhood Plans. These are fixed term contracts, concluding at the end of March 2020 that, among other things, will help link a number of specific activities to people’s sense of place within the landscape – for example, by coordinating the creation of a community opera with Opera North, celebrating 200 years of railway heritage, community arts residencies, farm diversification activities and grassroots tourism projects. We are looking for candidates whose knowledge and experience cuts across different sectors or for those who are keen to gain such cross-sector expertise.
