Durham Employment & Skills are offering week-long training for the skills needed to apply for the Construction Industry Training Board (CSCS) Green Card, at Bishop Auckland in mid-January. Other courses are available including their Positive Woman programme to support confidence building and manage challenges in everyday life, and their UP2U course that helps trainees understand the recruitment process and develop skills and techniques to help with gaining employment. These are held at a variety of venues and vary from one day to one week. If there is sufficient interest the training may be held at UTASS in Middleton-in-Teesdale. DES can further work with Employers by delivering pathways for recruitment and a recent example is when they organised training for candidates when one employer needed employees with qualifications in Food Safety Level 2 and Pallet Truck Training. For further information please contact Durham Employment & Skills at DES@durham.gov.uk or phone 03000 266 644. A full list of courses can be found at http://www.durham.gov.uk/DEScourses although not all on this list are free.
